Science Fair (Year 4, 5 and 6)

Dear Parents/Carers

This year, West Byford Primary School will be having a Science Fair, running in Week 8!

This is a project that is to be completed outside of class time and is an excellent opportunity for students to work with families on some exciting science learning!

There will be information sessions run for students on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and next during lunchtime in the Science room for anyone from Years 1-6 who is interested in entering.

The competition may be entered individually or in pairs, though pairs will require extra organisation and coordination. Families are encouraged to help with the project as much as possible while allowing students the autonomy to go through the scientific process themselves.

To help families understand the project, I have included the first 2 pages of the Science Fair Planning Pack, which leads students through the scientific process and helps them record all of the required information for their submission.

To register, parents or carers must complete the registration form. Please be aware that all project work needs to be completed at home, including the provision of resources and materials.

Families and students are more than welcome to look at what other people have done for science fair projects online but, if possible, try to come up with a question and experiment/project that is unique to the student's interests!

Cut-off for registrations of interest will be Friday, 27th October. This will allow for 4 weeks of working time and give the opportunity for long-term experiments and projects.

Registration forms can be completed here: https://tinyurl.com/WBPSScienceFair

I hope to see lots of interested scientists at the information sessions.

If you have any questions regarding the Science Fair, please don’t hesitate to send me a Dojo message or I am in the classroom before and after school Mondays and Tuesdays.

Yours sincerely
